Hi Jigknot

Click your Start Button, type netplwiz and hit Enter
In the resulting dialog, uncheck the option 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box'
Provide your full login details (Email . etc)
Click OK

If the above does not work for you:

Open the Settings App
Go to Accounts - Sign-in Options
Choose to sign in with a local account
(in newer versions of Windows 10, this might be on the Your Info Settings Page)
Enter your old password and leave the new password box blank
Close the Settings App

Hi Jigknot

Are you using the second option when this happens, please explain where you are in the process, that looks like you are still in a Microsoft Account, which will have a minimum password length . . .

Hi Jigknot

Do you see the option - Choose to sign in with a local account, on either of the two pages listed above?

Hi Jigknot

Yes, if you click that, then enter your old password, then leave the new password boxes empty, does that succeed?

Hi Jigknot

Does that process not allow you to proceed without entering a new password?

If not, enter a new password, then go back to netplwiz and see if that option to not require a password has shown up . . .
